Hierarchical View: Controlled Term List Window

Viewing Controlled Terms within the context of a hierarchical Controlled Term List provides users with a useful, more contextual alternative to the standard display of a Controlled Term List.

The Hierarchical View page displays all a hierarchical Controlled Term List’s top level terms in single page and gives you the ability to drill down through subsequent (child) Controlled Terms to a single Controlled Term in the lowest level of hierarchy.

This ensures that you can view Controlled Term Lists in the same structure as its owner provided (such as MedDRA and VedDRA).

Note: Since EUTCT v5.2, all hierarchical Controlled Term Lists are displayed hierarchically by default. There is still an option to view in the flat list format, which may be found at the foot of each page.

a

Identifier: The Identifier of a Controlled Term is a numerical value that allows a Controlled Term to be uniquely identified. The Term Identifier is exchanged between applications in order to identify the Controlled Term used.

Note: EUTCT assigns a unique numerical Term Identifier of 12 digits to every Controlled Term in the terminology.

b

Short Name: This is the first or principle shortened, acronym or abbreviated version of the Controlled Term's name in English.

c

Status: This is the latest status of the Controlled Term.

Key To Controlled Term Status

CURRENT: Controlled Term is approved for use in new applications/records.

PROVISIONAL: When a Controlled Term is entered into the system after the initial sign-off of the Controlled Term List, but prior to approval by the Terminology Evaluation Group (TEG). Note that this may not be used in every Controlled Term List.

NON-CURRENT: The Controlled Term is not approved for use in new applications/records. The Controlled Term is not physically removed from the system and is maintained to cover legacy data.

NULLIFIED: Used when a Controlled Term has been published in error and needs to be removed.

UNDER CONSULTATION: The status of "Under consultation" is used to indicate that a Controlled Term is being made available for the consultation process on the content of the Controlled Term Lists prior to the initial sign-off of the Controlled Term List.
